Two Weeks Through Northern Mexico

The 2027 Copper Canyon Expedition is a demanding, small-group motorcycle journey created for experienced adventure riders. Beginning and ending at our basecamp in Benson, Arizona, we travel deep into Mexico through Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango and Sinaloa.

The route carries us through the Sonoran River Valley, high into the Sierra Madre and deep into Las Barrancas del Cobre. We will experience remote mountain communities, extraordinary canyon landscapes, historic cities, Mexico’s legendary Espinazo del Diablo and the Pacific coast before turning north toward Arizona.

Expect long days, high mileage, changing conditions and a carefully selected mixture of outstanding pavement, gravel, dirt and remote backcountry routes. This expedition is challenging, but it is not about making every mile unnecessarily difficult. Routes will be adjusted when weather, road conditions or rider safety require sound judgment.

This journey is about more than motorcycles. We make time for excellent regional food, distinctive lodging, local culture and the communities that make this part of Mexico unforgettable. Ten percent of the expedition proceeds will be directed back to communities along the route.

Participation is limited, and each rider’s experience will be reviewed before registration. Riders should be comfortable handling a loaded adventure motorcycle on loose surfaces, mountain roads and consecutive full riding days. Two-up riders may be considered following a conversation about experience, motorcycle setup and route suitability.

This is not a conventional sightseeing tour. It is a genuine international motorcycle expedition for riders who want the challenge, beauty, culture and unpredictability of traveling through Mexico by motorcycle.
